The European Commission hopes to unify the policy of EU member states when it comes to dealing with attacks of cybercrime. In a statement the Commission outlined its desire to form a new Directive for addressing viral issues, hacking and defending against service hits.
The idea began in 2005 when the Commission proposed a framework decision to be adopted across the continent when dealing with such matters. The Commission statement says this framework was step one, and now the 'Technological advances and new methods employed by perpetrators call for an improvement of EU rules.
The EC says a new Directive should be set up so that legislation within all member states is prepared enough to cope with increasingly complex threats. The Commission statement says that implementation at national level will be improved, and to ensure this the Commission will begin to oversee how EU states apply this. ADNFCR-2575-ID-19944324-ADNFCR
