Commtouch® CTCH +0.95% today announced the availability of its eighth generation Internet security offering, reinforcing its cloud-security leadership.
The new release adds a number of unique capabilities that increase performance, enable extensive customization, and allow simpler management of its email and Web security services. Commtouch's solutions are integrated into the offerings of over 150 service providers and security vendors worldwide, that use them to combat cybercrime activities such as malware, phishing and spam.
New features of the release include: Improved Performance and Underlying Technology - The performance improvements ensure even faster spam classification and URL categorization, particularly for high-volume deployments such as large-scale service provider environments. The new version also provides full IPv6 support.
Expanded Web Security Capabilities - Vendors and service providers can now customize Commtouch GlobalView URL Filtering to include their own self-defined custom categories. This can be used, for example, to expand filtering coverage for a specific topic or to create categories for certain geographic regions. The release also includes support for URL Filtering on Android platforms.
Enhanced Email Security Offerings - The new version introduces several new features such as: on-demand Web-based analytics that provide a bird's eye view of malicious email traffic and senders; spamd support for seamless integration with MTAs such as exim; and LocalView, a new, rule-based anti-spam engine that enables full local customization. The new LocalView engine contains configurable rules that can be managed centrally by Commtouch or independently by the customer, and enables simple enhancement or replacement of SpamAssassin installations. LocalView also provides diversified detection for customers who require a second anti-spam engine to complement their Commtouch's Recurrent Pattern Detection(TM) implementation.
Unified Engine for email security, Web security and antivirus - The release integrates Commtouch's Unified Engine that combines three Internet security services - anti-spam, URL filtering and antivirus - into a single package, which provides numerous technical and operational benefits.
"Commtouch continues to innovate and invest heavily in the development of our Internet security solutions," said Amir Lev, Commtouch's chief technology officer. "With this version, we have made significant progress in supporting our customers' needs and in offering them value. The enhanced flexibility and performance enables them to differentiate their offerings, reduce costs and improve operational efficiencies."
